How Should Jordanian Students Prepare for UCAT?

Speed is the whole game

UCAT gives under 30 seconds per question in Verbal Reasoning. Practice at speed from day one using official question banks. Do not just practice — practice FAST.

No negative marking — never leave blanks

Unlike IMAT, there is no penalty for wrong answers. Always answer every question, even by guessing in the final seconds.

"Most Jordanian students underestimate how much preparation time UCAT requires. We recommend a minimum of eight weeks of structured study before your exam date, focusing on your weakest section from week one."

Common UCAT Questions from Jordanian Students

Which UK medical schools require UCAT?
Most UK medical schools require UCAT, including Imperial College London, King's College London, UCL, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Dundee, St Andrews, and more. Check ucat.ac.uk for the full list.
When should I take UCAT?
Take UCAT during the annual testing window July–September, before the UCAS October deadline. Book as early as possible in May when registration opens. Early July slots allow maximum preparation time.
What is a good UCAT score?
Average total is ~2600. A strong score is 2800+ (75th+ percentile). Top decile (3000+) strongly helps applications to Imperial and UCL. Situational Judgement Band 1 is preferred.
Can I retake UCAT?
Only once per admissions cycle. Thorough preparation before test day is essential. You can take UCAT again in a subsequent year if you reapply.
How is UCAT different from BMAT which was discontinued?
BMAT tested scientific knowledge; UCAT does not. BMAT was discontinued after October 2024. UCAT is now the main aptitude test for UK medicine.
